Vista Academy

In partnership with Sonoma County Juvenile Probation, Circuit Rider operates The Vista Academy, an Alternative to Detention Evening Reporting Center for court-ordered youth. Evening Reporting Centers are designed to keep youth busy during specific hours that if not structured, might lead additional criminal activity.

Youth attending the Vista Academy Program participate in numerous pro-social development opportunities structured to assist juvenile offenders to develop ethical values that reduce the likelihood of re-arrest. Vista Academy delivers positive youth development, prosocial approach and trauma informed care to up to 16 participants.

Youth attending the Vista Academy Program continue to attend school, live at home, and attend their required court hearings.

Circuit Rider provides a number of mentoring and social service learning activities for at-risk youth as well as social services for adults and seniors. We remain committed to these diverse and proven programs and proud of the impact they have had in our community.

Aggression Replacement Training (ART)

In partnership with Sonoma County Juvenile Probation, Circuit Rider offers 10-week sessions of Aggression Replacement Training®  (ART) throughout each year.  ART is a research-based, cognitive-behavioral approach for working with youth. Circuit Rider’s staff are trained and certified in providing ART.

ART features three coordinated and integrated components:

  • Social Skills Training—Teaches participants what to do, helping them replace antisocial behaviors with positive alternatives.

  • Anger Control—Teaches participants what not to do, helping them respond to anger in a nonaggressive manner and rethink anger-provoking situations.

  • Moral Reasoning—Helps raise participants' level of fairness, justice, and concern for the needs and rights of others.

Upstream Academy

Upstream Academy is Circuit Rider Community Services’ academic enrichment and college-readiness program designed to support Youth (13–17) and young adults (18–24) from historically underserved communities. The program focuses on strengthening core academic skills, improving performance in college-prep and Advanced Placement coursework, and building the confidence and study habits students need to succeed in high school and beyond. Through small-group instruction, individualized tutoring, mentorship, and culturally responsive teaching practices, Upstream Academy meets students where they are and helps them close opportunity gaps that too often limit post-secondary options.

Beyond academics, Upstream Academy provides wraparound support that addresses the social, emotional, and practical barriers to educational success. Participants receive mentorship, goal-setting coaching, exposure to college and career pathways, and connections to family and community resources. By combining rigorous academic support with relationship-based guidance, the program empowers young people to see themselves as capable scholars and future leaders—equipped not only to graduate, but to thrive in higher education, vocational training, and meaningful careers.

Raíces a Cumbre

Raíces a Cumbre (Roots to Summit) is Circuit Rider Community Services’ culturally rooted outdoor education and family engagement program designed to connect Latino Youth (13–17) and young adults (18–24) with nature, wellness, and leadership development. Through guided hikes, environmental education, community service projects, and family-inclusive outdoor experiences, the program builds physical health, resilience, and a sense of belonging in spaces that have historically felt inaccessible to many communities of color. By centering cultural identity and collective experience, Raíces a Cumbre helps participants develop confidence, environmental stewardship, and pride in both their heritage and their connection to the natural world.

Beyond outdoor activities, Raíces a Cumbre strengthens families and community networks by creating safe, welcoming spaces for shared learning and growth. Parents and caregivers participate alongside youth, fostering intergenerational bonding, leadership, and mutual support. The program also integrates mentorship, goal-setting, and exposure to educational and career pathways connected to environmental fields and community leadership. Together, these elements empower participants not only to explore new horizons, but to carry forward skills, relationships, and a lasting commitment to personal well-being and community resilience.
